Soil Depletion, Nutrient Deficiency and Health

Can our soils produce healthy foods that contain the necessary minerals for healthy growth and YOUR health?

Soil depletion nutrient deficiency is a real problem. After World War II, organic farming stopped, crop rotation stopped, and the advent of artificial or synthetic fertilizers (N-P-K) containing only Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash came about as a way to speed up growth (not health). However, Nitrogen and Phosphorus fertilizer was developed long before the mineral requirements of plants and humans were fully recognized. This is when soil depletion nutrient deficiency started. In order to grow healthy, and to grow the food you actually want to eat, plants need natural and organic essential minerals which prevent soil depletion nutrient deficiency. Just as we need minerals, plants need magnesium, manganese, calcium, iron, zinc, copper and sulfur—the kind of plant nutrients AND concentration found in Peggy Green’s Wonderfood® products for everything in your garden. It’s time to end soil depletion nutrient deficiency and grow healthy again.

Soil depletion nutrient deficiency is real. YOU CAN do something about it. YOU CAN grow everything healthier.

According to Medicine Today, depletion of minerals is accelerating. Research shows that the iron in spinach has dropped by 60 percent. Broccoli has lost 75 percent of its calcium, and carrots have lost 75 percent of their magnesium. Not only has food lost its nutritional value, but food has lost its taste!

  • Industrialized farming techniques have depleted our soils of minerals.
  • Soil depletion produces NUTRITIONALLY DEFICIENT CROPS which do not provide us with the necessary essential nutrients.
  • Crops grown in depleted soils, without minerals, are more susceptible to mold, fungus, disease, and insects.
  • Chemicals and pesticides destroy the natural organic plant nutrients and kill beneficial microorganisms in the soil (good living bacteria) that create healthy mineral complexes.
  • Plants derive their food from the soil. Whatever chemicals, synthetics and pesticides are present in the soil are also present in plants and us.
  • MINERALS ARE ESSENTIAL constituents of bones, teeth, muscle, soft tissue, blood and nerve cells.
  • Without minerals, we can’t assimilate vitamins, and are at SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS.

Peggy Green’s Wonderfood® products feed the soil which in turn feeds the plants, and grows everything healthier.

Organic Mineral Fertilizer

Organic Mineral Fertilizer

Why organic mineral fertilizer and plant food?

Minerals are the “spark plugs” of the soil which “jump start” the other nutrients and make them available to the plant. Cutting back on an organic fertilizer or plant food that doesn’t have these necessary essential elements, can end up having long term effects on the soil and your plant’s health. At Peggy Green, we are all about plant health and soil health. You will find all of our natural and organic mineral fertilizer and plant food products to be the finest available. We never use fillers, synthetic chemicals or pesticides. We have innovative products that avoid the use of harmful things like cancer causing nitrates from nitrogen or phosphorus. Our products are completely safe for children and pets. And, more importantly, we create the products that you want!

Micronutrients are essential in a good organic garden.

A good organic mineral fertilizer is essential to a plant’s health, and will act like vitamins for plants. It will stimulate the various functions of major nutrients and enzymes. Peggy Green’s organic formulations give your plants the vitamins they need to “jump start” these functions, and ensure optimum growth and health. So, whether you are growing a flower garden, vegetable garden, and in pots, containers, or raised beds, a good organic mineral fertilizer will keep your organic garden the best it can be throughout the year.

Here’s what an organic mineral fertilizer can do for your garden.

Calcium: Essential to plant cell wall structure. Calcium deficiency is often seen as the inability for plants to bud, and for leaves to be small and distorted. Calcium deficiency is also seen as end rot in tomatoes and peppers, as well as tip burn in carrots.

Sulfur: Necessary for all living cells. Humans and animals get sulfur from plants. Plants use sulfur to produce proteins, amino acids, enzymes and vitamins. Sulfur helps the plant fight disease, and aids in growth and seed formation.

Magnesium: Magnesium is part of the chlorophyll in all plants and essential for photosynthesis. It also helps activate many plant enzymes needed for growth.

Potassium: Helps in building protein, fruit quality and reduction of diseases.

Copper: Important to reproductive growth. Symptoms of copper deficiency include browning of leaf tips.

Iron: Essential for formation of chlorophyll. Without it, there will be yellowing in all but the veins of the leaf.

Manganese: Functions with enzyme systems involved in breakdown of carbohydrates, and nitrogen metabolism.

Zinc: Zinc is an essential component of various enzyme systems for energy production, protein synthesis, and growth regulation. Zinc deficient plants exhibit delayed maturity, and decrease in leaf size.
